Brief Description: Preparing Canopy Frame and Side Rails
This entry is a compilation of several canopy rail and frame sessions.
-Trimmed the canopy side rails per the plans and taped them in place on the fuse per the plans -Drilled the hole for the installation pin into the C-661 slide block per the plans. Unfortunately, I centered the hole and that is the wrong spot. It would not allow the pin the rotate and engage the anchor block correctly. I then learned on VAF that this common and the hole needs to be position more forward. So I had to order a new slide block (another $15 downt the tubes), and wah-lah, it works good now. -Temp installed the canopy rollers onto the frame -Positioned the C-806 anchor block in the canopy frame receptacle -With the anchor pin fully seated, the frame moved too far forward and contacted the roll bar (see image 2 below). So I fabricated some shims to go between the C-806 anchor block and the F-807 rear seatback bulkhead. Now with the shims and the anchor block installed, when the pin is fully seated, there is a comfortable gap between the front hoop of the canopy frame and the rollbar. (see imange 3 below)
