Cut along scratch mark on cockpit plange. The mark is very difficult to see and is missing in some places. The edge that is being trimmed will receive a rubber seal on which the canopy will close.
I spent a ton of time agonizing where this cut should be made. That was dumb. It holds the rubber seal that seals the canopy to the opening. All this flange needs to do is hold that seal and be wide enough to drill through to attach the panel support. Those are the holes in the 3rd picture. They will be hidden by the seal.
The good news is that as I move along the airplane building path, I'm gaining confidence and a better understanding of why things are being done. With that, I should be able to complete tasks much quicker. Looking forward to that! Right now, I'm moving very slowly.

Horizontal on the side
The flange is about a 45 degree angle towards the cockpit.
