Brief Description:  Thicken Canopy Rear Frame - 1

Tthe rear of the canopy frame needs to be thickened in order for it to seat against the rubber seal. Otherwise, the canopy sits nicely on the ribber weatherstrip.

How much is the question. I got into the cockpit while Dave set the canopy in place. I then attached the frame to the canopy arms and Dave closed me in. I made marks where the frame begin to loose contact with the seal and used hash marks to indicate the gap that would need to be filled. At the widest part, I will need to add about 1/3" to make a weathertight seal. The frame edge needs to come down and aft, so wrapping fiberglass mat around the edge should accomplish both objectives.

I've been putting off this job because it's going to be a mess and will take several applications. FG matt is more difficult to work with than FG tape because the fibers are layed, not woven. This means that when you try to make multiple layups, the threads will tend to come up. Oh well, here goes!
