Brief Description:  Nose Gear - 2

Our wives went out for dinner and a movie tonight, so Dave reported for duty in the factory before we headed out for nachos. What a great night! Airplane building and nachos.

While Dave was with me in the factory, we made some sparks while we installed the front gear. Great fun.

The first two pictures show us beveling the stop tangs on the nose gear mounting fork. This prevents the gear stop from hitting a sharp corner and gives a bit tighter turning radius. That and it makes a lot of sparks grinding stuff. So, there's that.

After grinding the tangs, we drilled through the steel gear leg (solid at the lower bolt) for the AN bolts that secure the legs. The trick here is to first drill a small pilot hole and then use larger bits to drill it wider until reaching the final size. The first hole is tough sledding.
