Brief Description:  Comm Mounting tabs

I fabricated two mounting tabs with studs for the comm radio. The studs raise the radio off of the floor about 1/8". They are secured to the tab with a lockwasher and nut. It's tight enough to allow the nylocs to be turned without rotating the studs. The advantage is that tabs will use less material resulting in less weight. To To remove the radio for servicing or replacement, just back off the nyloc nuts. This can be done with a nut driver from above. Win/win.

The photo shows a proposed location for the comm. It's very close to the antenna, so the RG 400 coax will only be about a foot long. If I mount it under the baggage floor, the cable would need to be longer. The only downside I can think of is that there will be a lot of wires running through this space. I still think there is plenty of room.
