Brief Description:  Fit Flaps - 2

Here's a step I didn't see in the manual and it just majically appeared on other builder sites. So, I'll share a bit of detail how Dave and I did this. It's easy, but not explained in the manual.

There needs to be a slotted hole cut in the wing root where the flap meets the fuselage. This is for the connection to the flap rod which moves the flaps. To make the hole, we used extra long bolts to attach the flap to the flap hinges and then slid the flap toward the fuselage. I traced where the Flap rod tube rubbed on the fuselage and this is where the hole needs to be cut. Just pull the flap off and cut the hole. Once the hole is cut, the flap can be installed wth the correct length bolts and the tube at the TE of the flap rides inside the curved hole. The first hole took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to mark mark, cut, and reattach the flaps. The second hole took about 45 minutes. Lots of head scratching while cutting the first hole.
