Brief Description:  Aileron Hinges

Need to fabricate the aileron hinges before test fitting the ailerons. First, the inboard hinge.

The inboard hinge comes flat and must be bent into shape. Manual instructions are good. It weakens metal to bend it back and forth, so I made small bends until I got the shape I wanted. Just bending will result in a hinge that isn't straight, so it also has to be twisted. Eventually, they turned out pretty good.

The outboard hinge comes ready for installation. However, the installation should result in a straight line starting at the wing root TE down the flap, down the aileron, and to the wing tip. One of my hinges needed spacing between the back of the hinge and the wing, so I added a few washers and structureal flox. That gave me a very secure bed and a straight line down the TE of the flap and aileron.

Just a bit more twist and it is done.

Note the flox at the base of the hinge? This gives a straight line at the TE.
