This morning i added cabosol to the lower door opening. The starting gap varied between 1/4" and 3/8". This needs to be a very consistent 1/4" for the seal to work the best. Another builder applied 1/4" foam tape to the door and filled the gap with cabosol using a caulking tube. While this left a good 1/4" gap, there were areas that the cabosol did not penetrate. I covered the door first with clear packaging tape, followed by two layers of 1/8" foam tape and topped it off with another layer of clear packaging tape. This gave me a firm, flexible base yet will come off the door easily tomorrow. I filled the joint with the door open and then closed and latched the door. As planned, the cabosil oozed out the top where I scraped it off level. The lower part will ooze onto a piece of tape making it easy to remove when the door is opened.
