STEP INSTALLATION. Got a few ideas from other builders and adapted a couple of them for my step installation. The challenge is that a few years down the road the step may com loose and by design there is no access plate...so I added an access plate on each side. Then, because of skin clearance, rather then drill vertically, I drilled horizontally which will allow me to change the bolt, step or increase the size of the bolt when needed. Additionally, the design does not call for any internal support block to oppose the torque placed on the tubes by the bolt, so I added a billet spacer block machined by TCW. These spacer blocks are slid into place and the attach bolt slides through the spacer and tubes locking them all place. Once the fit up was complete, I can remove it so it is not in the way for the build.. I have heard that builders have bumped into this step more then once during the build, and having it not installed is a good thing.
