Today I started with the right aileron and added lead shot to the spar tube until the aileron balanced on the two hinges with the bottom of the aileron horizontal. When I finally got it to balance perfectly I had lead shot all the way to the end of the spar tube so there was no room for a sealing plug. I colud see no way around this so I pulled out the lead shot and knocked out both internal plugs (left & right ailerons) I installed yesterday. I will redo the plugs about 20" from the edge of the aileron rather than the 14" I used before. It took about 3 pounds of shot to balance the aileron which is about twice what I expected. I will double check this balance when I put the shot in later.
