Brief Description:  Wiring day

Wired up the aileron trim servo. Ran the ELT cable to the empennage area where the antenna will mount horizontally under the emp faring. Tidied up the wiring under the cabin floor, ran lighting wires to the rear and tidied up back there as well with those cool sticky zip tie mounts that Stein sells. They really are as sticky as they say. Adel clamped the battery cable from the rear mount to the wing spar. Not much left to do before painting the interior and putting the floors in.

FINISHED THE FLOOR NUTPLATES!!!

Let me tell you folks. If you're ever in south Florida and an RV-8 builder named Charlie Kuss ever offers you a daiquiri...just punch him in the nose. Otherwise, next thing you know you'll like the guy and he will talk you into putting nutplates instead of pop rivets in your floor. Oh sure, it will sound like a great idea. You can then put ELT's and Whelen power supplies under the floorboards...and have access for annual inspections etc etc Uh huh, just punch him in the nose...I'm telling you. Oh, but then run like hell...he's something like 6'5". On second thought, accept one of his daiquiris first...they really are quite good. Then, before he can offer you any advice..hit him with something heavy and run for the hills.

Anyway, hundreds of nutplates later, I'm finally done. Had to re-engineer the floor panels (cut the back 6 inches or so off so the flap motor can remain in while pulling the floor) and trim the vertical supports and, and, and....god I hate that Charlie. My back is still killing me. Yeah, yeah...it will be great later...if this thing ever gets done. I'll get you one day Charlie.

Speaking of freakishly tall pilots....Terry keeps saying he's going to come help and hold up a second, why are all my friends so unbelievably tall? Rob and Manny are both freaks of nature as well...hell, Rob's teenage daughter is taller than me. I think I'm going to develop a issue over this...might need some counselling. I'm going to have to think about that one a while.
