Brief Description:  Do-over day.

So, I have this friend named Jim Gray, Jim's plane is that one that all builders need. The finished plane, far beyond my skill level that I can stick my head and camera into whenever I like. He always answers the phone, is happy to share his knowledge and my project would be significantly more difficult had I not met him.

Anyway, I asked Jim about wire bundle routing the other day and his words of wisdom were that he looked at his airplane as a vibration generator. As such, any wiring laying on the floor was constantly subjected to abrasion, so he chose not to route wiring on the belly skin. Well, that makes complete sense and it's hard to ignore the advice of a guy with a Bronze Lindy amoungst his trophies...but it's completely NOT how I had routed most of my bundles aft of the main spar. Hell, damn near everything was laying on the belly skin somewhere along it's route. I tossed it around and decided it wouldn't take all that long to change...so I did. There might be some more wiring going back that way for the remote compass modules (garmin and dynon)...so the adel clamps are all loose, and the bundles aren't properly laced but you get the idea.

A large chunk of my avionics are going to ship tomorrow. Part of that is the GTX23es remote transponder that goes with the G3X system. I planned on mounting that on a plate under the passengers legs on the starboard side. Yesterday, I decided to look up that unit's install manual online...where I discovered it won't fit on that side due to the GIB (girl in back) air supply coming through there. Well dammit. So, I removed the already finished ELT mount and moved it to the right, put a larger plate on the left side for the GTX23es. I also made the right side plate larger so that I could put some terminal strips on it for wing wiring etc.

Today was a day of doing things for a second time. Days like that seem like such a waste...if only I were brilliant enough to figure this stuff out right the first time!
