Brief Description: Mount Engine to FWF Mockup Stand #1
I showed this picture (#1) at work and the first comment I got was that it looked liked a childrens basketball goal. It does at that but that will improve once I have the engine mounted onto it. The second picture shows an engine hoist attached to the garage cceiling in preparation for lifting the engine onto the engine mount. It turned out that the base of the mockup prevents my floor based engine hoist from getting close enough. That will not be a problem on the aircraft but while I am working with the mockup I will need thise extra step in getting the engine on or off. In the third picture I have hoisted the engine up high enough to allow the engine mount to fit below. A piece of heavy padding is kept in place to prevent the components from contacting and most of the weight was kept suspended from the hoist. The fit looks good and there is more clearance from the firewall than I had expected. Next step is to bolt the engine to the mount using the appropriate H/W and isolation mounts.
