Brief Description:  Continue AeroVee Engine Assembly

Have answer from Sonex technical support on the tapped holes in the crankcase for the oil pump and oil bypass block off plate bolts. Tech support says they checked several crankcases in their inventory and found the same problem. They then say that the engine machine shop's tap must have been dull, and I need to retap the holes. Funny though, I did a google search for this problem while waiting for their answer, and found that this was brought to their attention back in 2013. I wonder why this was not added to the quality control check on the crankcase? A story for another day I guess.

Retap holes in crankcase.
Install ACV-P01-11 Oil Cooler Bypass Plate.
Fill ACV-P01-55 Maxi Oil Pump with lithium grease, install same. Another road block, the 35 mm bolts are way to long, will need to use 20 mm length instead.

Install ACV-P01-85 Oil Breather Plate, which does not fit over the studs in the crankcase. Manual says to remove the studs, it would have been good to know this before assembling the crankcase to avoid metal filings in the engine. Drill out holes in plate and install same.

Install 5 crank shims.
Install ACV-F01-02 Flywheel, gland nut & wavy washer. Check end play with dial indicator, is = .008" with gland nut tight but not torqued.
