Brief Description: Pick Up New AeroVee Crankcase & 2nd Crank
On 12/10/2014 Sonex tech support answered on my AeroVee crankcase and 2nd crankshaft kit. The short story is that Sonex says the crankshaft main bearing journals were not line bored properly.
Sonex is still sticking to their story that the prop hub runout measurements are not an issue.
Today I picked up the crankcase and crankshaft. I have verified I now have a new crankcase (well different than the 1st one at least) , and that the crank returned is my 2nd crank.
Clean crankcase. Install both oil pressure relief assemblies.
At this point I say the 2nd crankcase is much better in this area, minimal metal found in the oil passges and no burrs on the cross drilled holes for the oil pressure plungers and springs. Clean all as well as I could, since some of the passages are dead ends.
