....Demo flight and RV-6A order...My F/O went with me to Plains, OR about 25 miles from our layover hotel in Portland. We visited the factory that makes the kits which was very impressive. We went to the designer's farmstrip (Richard Van Gruesen) where prototypes are built and demo rides given.I had a ride in "Old Blue" which has given hundreds of rides. She flies like a dream and no one who flys one will ever want a Cessna again.I called Gloria and she consented so I ordered the Quickbuild kit which is partially assembled in the Phillipines at the old Clark USAF base where I attended survival school. Van's ships the parts there and the partially assembled kit is shipped back to Van's for inspection, boxed up and then sent to me. The extra cost of $8000 saves 1000 hours build time and insures a straight airframe since that is built in their jigs by experienced builders.
