Fabricate final baffle backup strip. This took some time as I wanted to have a way to seal the gap around the governor. The final iteration was to make a full doubler from 063 sheet to fit completely around the governor hole.
Standard techniques were used for this fabrication. I decided to make this doubler removeable using screws. The reasoning behind this is that I wanted to be able to easily remove the baffling yet seal the gap. It is now an easy task to install the baffling, stretch the silicone seal over the governor, and clamp the seal to the baffle with flush screws. This solution necessitated installation of nut plates for #6 screws and machine c-sinking the doubler face. I will need to fine tune the dimension of the hole in the silicone but it appears that around 2 7/16" works fine. When stretched over the governor and clamped to the baffle, a flexible, tight seal is formed on the governor while allowing relative motion for vibration.
