Finished installing recog lights, using FlyLeds single spots. Stainless cap screws were used for ease of adjustment. A sping and spacer method was used and is comparable to Vans wingtip light installation. The mount plates were then installed using SS Torx screws. Finally, the lense was installed using SS 6-32 hardware.
These steps were then repeated for the other wingtip.
An operational check was completed. The camera had issues with the brightness of the lights. The first picture illustrates the recogs only. The second picture illustrates the Nav/Position and recog lights on.
The Deutsch connector is the last part of the wingtip wiring.
Next I decided to replace Vans rudder stop. There have been several issues with and accidental rudder strike while tied down. The rudder strike sheared the rivets and the end result was that the rudder was damaged. To mitigate this problem, a rudder stop was fabricated from 3/8" Delrin. It has the same stop limits and provides additional surface area. It is secured between the hinge plates and uses the original rivet holes, enlarged to #28, for Stainless 6-32 hardware.
The rudder was installed and full range of motion verified.
