I repeated the process for the port side rear skirt. It worked out perfectly as well - first time. I think what must bring others unstuck is how they transfer the position of the holes to the skins before drilling ... fractions of millimeters out of place cause the skin to move quite a lot at the aft edge. Every hole I drilled went through exactly into the original hole, so I'll probably pass this hint on to others.
