Today I helped Tony Blair fabricate a new 4130 elevator belcrank for the Rebel 300. It has a brass busing instead of a steel on steel bearing and has less slop, so his muscle servos might be able to maintain cruise ALT without phugoids now!
We will have to modify the belcrank to the exact length once the force and elevator deflections are more accurately tested. The side welds are polished back, but very good penetration was visible through the opens ends. This allowed us to remove unnecessary weld metal that just adds weight without adding strength.
