Brief Description: Engine Sensor reroutes and Engine Start
Derek 9.0 Phil 9.0
After breakfast at Jaliscos we got to work at the shop. Bill Lewis stopped by to see the Onex progress and had a good visit
Drilled holes and put plugs in the outboard sides of the wheel pants for access to the valve stems.
Went to work on rerouting the EGT and CHT wires to the RDAC They were too long and are not able to be trimmed so we routed them through the standoffs made out of 2 Adel Clamps. Worked pretty nicely. Much better than before. We then reinstalled the propeller and sucked any debris out of the fuel tank with a vacuum.
Moved it out onto the driveway and tied it to the bumper of Derek's truck. Engine started easily again and ran very well. We were able to run it for about 10 minutes to get some heat in the engine and check for more oil leaks. Found out that now the primary ignition is not firing so we are going to have to do some trouble shooting on that. The main oil leak that we had fixed was much better but there may still be a little residual oil there or a slight leak. Also detected leaks on 2 push rod tubes. We were able to treat those with red RTV between the threads and feel that will solve those two. Another engine run and some more oil was found around the oil pump. Starting to get very disgusted with oil leaks on this engine but fixed several major ones so far. The oil cooler worked very well. We could not get the oil temp over 100 degrees with the outside air temp being about 63 degrees.
Rigged all control surfaces to spec. Flaps, Rudder, Ailerons and Elevator.
