Flushed with my success on the canopy frame, I continued tonight with some initial work on the latch mechanism.
I assembled the basic components and then test fitted with the canopy in the fully closed position. The latch sits way too low, by about 13mm (a touch over 1/2").
I checked and double checked my measurements, then removed the canopy and marked the cut-off line on the latch tube. I think I'll make this cut tomorrow.
