I installed my iPad mounting system in the cockpit today, and rather than fit nutplates direct to the forward deck flange (second picture below), I decided to make up a retainer plate instead that fits in behind, to give more strength, and to also make it easier to physically install. Hopefully the pictures below tell the story.
