Also today I decided to start wiring up my stick grip controls. I've had the Ray Allen Company stick grips for quite some time now, so what better time to wire them up than while waiting for paint to dry on my rudder pedals.
The stick grip comes with five push buttons, four on top, and one at the front for Push-to-Talk. Of the four on top I need two for elevator trim, but the other two are free to use for whatever I want. I ended up deciding on one button for Auto Pilot Disconnect, and the other button for Transponder Ident.
Anyway, I soldered all the wires in place and then threaded them into a piece of heavy black wiring sleeve to afford a bit of protection, plus it keeps everything nice and neat. Using a light sprinkling of baby powder I then squeezed the foam grip onto the control stick before then threading the wiring down the tube and fitting the controls to the top.
Oh yeah, I also cut 1.5" off the length of the control stick. It's way too high.
