With the sub-panel cut out done, I then turned my attention to the corresponding hole in the instrument panel. Again, I carefully marked out the hole as per the drawings and then, using the supplied "Drill Jig", I match drilled all the rivet holes and the corner holes for the cut-out.
My dremel got a second workout today when I put it to the task of cutting out the hole. This is quite a "nervy" task as one slip and I could easily damage my panel for good, so with steady hand and intent focus I proceeded very slowly.
The hole came out very neat and didn't take much with the file and scotchbrite pad to clean it up perfectly. I say perfectly, because when I put the whole assembly back together again the map box aligned oh so neat.
I think I'll finish this off next weekend.
