Before pulling the whole front deck assembly apart I thought I might as well install the map box. The map box is quite deep and needs to pass through the sub-panel behind. I removed the sub-panel section that needed the hole cut and carefully marked out the hole location according to the drawings. I drilled a hole in each corner and then put my dremel to work (again). With a bit of filing, and some scotchbrite, it came out quite neat.
I then reinstalled the sub-panel, positioned the map box in the cut out, and clecoed the instrument panel back on. With the hole location already marked out on the instrument panel (I did it earlier) I could then use my eye-ometer and check that the box was going to fit properly. All good.
