Brief Description:  1: Riveting the Rudder Trailing Edge

Having left the trailing edge sealant (glue) to set for two days, now it was time to have a go at setting the double-flush rivets.

Following the instructions to the letter, I first set only every tenth rivet, just to hold everything together. I also did not drive the rivets all the way home. Apparently if you set the rivets completely from one side then you can introduce a bow in the trailing edge, which is not something I want on my control surfaces.

Next I set the remaining rivets, using my back-rivet set, and again, only driving them about half-way home.

I then flipped the rudder over and, using my mushroom rivet set, finished each rivet completely.

The end result .... a beautifully straight edge, with nicely set rivets.
