Brief Description: 1: Preparing the Rudder Trailing Edge
Tonight (Wednesday) I thought I'd start on the rudder trailing edge and get it bonded with tank sealant. That way it will be set, and ready for riveting, by the weekend (takes two days).
I'd already bought a length of 45x45x6mm aluminium angle to use as my straight edge, so the first job was to match drill holes in this to align with the trailing edge. I didn't want to enlarge any holes in the (very) thin skins, so I marked and drilled the two end holes only and used them to cleco the angle in place.
Using the holes in the top skin as a guide I then drilled into the angle just enough to make a mark at each location, and then finished them all by removing it and final drilling at the drill press.
After deburring the holes I then assembled the trailing edge, with the wedge piece in place, to test the accuracy of my holes. All good, so onto the next part.............
