Brief Description:  1: Vertical Stabiliser Coming Together

First up today I cleco'd the assembled front spar and ribs into the VS skin. This took a little bit of effort to get the nose ribs, especially the one at the top, all the way forward, but I got there...probably helped by one or two well chosen words.

Next up I started on the skin rivets. I found that by putting a small piece of rivet tape on my flush rivet set, and then placing another piece over the rivet head itself, I was able to avoid scuff marks completely. Thanks SAAA member Patrick for putting the idea in my head with a similar suggestion recently.

I'd recently bought a couple little $2 pen torches off ebay, just in case, and today I was glad. Having one of these at hand made checking my shop formed heads so much easier.

By luch time I'd finished riveting the skin to the front spar and ribs. The instructions then suggested that if you plan a strobe light installation then be sure to provide the necessary wiring runs BEFORE the rear spar assembly is riveted in place.

Okay?

I thought I'd stop there for the moment while I research exactly what this means.
