I spent some time working out how all the exhaust sections fit together, then cut the two cross-over sections to suit my IO-320 engine. Apparently they're made to fit an I/O-360 which must be a little wider. Anyway, I assembled each piece and held in place under the engine to be sure of how much to trim. Seems the instructions are accurate when they say to cut back by 25mm.
I had intentions of then starting to bolt the pieces up tot he engine however when I started removing the blanking plate from No.2 cylinder exhaust port it started draining preservative oil. Gee, I didn;t expect that. All I can think is that the exhaust valve must be open on this cylinder. Anyway, I decided to hold off on this for now as I don't want to be draining the preservative away just yet. I'll stop and go on with something else.
