I went straight to the hangar after work tonight, and decided to install the steel oil cooler fittings that arrived a couple weeks ago from Aircraft Spruce. I was advised by two different LAME's to replace the standard alloy fittings with steel ones, for ongoing durability and peace of mind.
So, I spent three hours at the hangar tonight, and all I got done was installation of two fluid fittings on the back of the engine. The "easy" one took an hour, the other one took two hours. I had to mangle another spanner, plus come up with a ridiculous socket concoction, in my efforts to do them up. There's simply no space.
Anyway, I got there in the end, so job done.
I'm still waiting for the two steel fittings that go at the oil cooler end. They're still on backorder.
