The plans call for nutplates and screws where the bottom wing skins overlap the fuselage bottom skin, however, there's no way I'm pulling the wings out just to do this. Instead I decided to install pop rivets. If the wings ever need to be removed then I'll have to drill the rivets out.
The tricky part in this exercise is match drilling the pilot holes, as it's the fuselage skin, which sits underneath, that has the holes drilled. Thankfully I'd marked a line against each hole a few years ago, that I could use as a reference to determine the spot to drill with the hole covered by the wing skin. My pilot holes weren't exact, but close enough so that when drilled out to 1/8" then they matched.
I then buffed up the mating surfaces with scotchbrite, and sprayed some primer in between, before pop rivetting together.
Working under the fuselage today
I chose pop rivets instead of nutplates and screws
