Brief Description: Engine Baffles
|
|
The main job completed today was fabrication of the conical baffle pieces that join the side baffles with the air intake ramps, on each side.
These needed to be made from scratch from 0.032" stock, so I started by measuring and making up a cardboard template. Once I had my head around the shape required I then transferred my workings to a piece of aluminium, cut it out, and then started bending the conical curve on my little bending brake (picture 2 below). Once the basic cone shape was made, and tweeked to fit properly, I then trimmed at each end to suit the shape of the baffles before match drilling the rivet holes.
I did the same for the other side as well.
I should have mentioned, prior to starting this I folded up the bottom eadge of the two front side baffle pieces, and match drilled to the air intake ramps.
As well as all this, I also rivetted the right side louvre onto the bottom cowl, plus sanded back some spots of resin I'd placed previously.
