Some time spent today working on the horizontal hinge sections that hold the top and botom cowl pieces together. I sanded back the top cowl lower edge some more where it was a little tight, then placed some reference marks on the lower cowl for where to drill holes so they will end up in the middle of the top cowl hinge (remembering that the hinge is angled up toward the back).
No picture, but I also shaped a small block of wood for a firm fit between the engine and hinge piece on the left side, so that when I start drilling holes the hinge doesn't push away. The idea seemed to work well.
I managed to match drill all the top cowl hinge attach holes along the left side, and got the section all cleaned up and ready to fix into place with resin and rivets.
Top and bottom cowl sections trimmed and fitted
Not at all happy with how the cowl sections line up against the crank flange
She's starting to look more and more like a finished aeroplane :-)
