I started today on assembly of the air filter box that bolts on under the fuel injection servo. I followed the instructions that came with the air filter box kit, and first step was to shorten both the top plate and the fibreglass "tub" piece. To do this, I fitted the mounting plate to the fuel injection servo, and then the bottom cowl. I then measured the distance from the back of the air inlet scoop through to to the top plate. This became my "reference dimension".
I then removed the mounting plate from the fuel servo, and clamped it to the top plate, and placed measurement marks as shown in the first photo below. The right-most line is the distance to the back of the inlet scoop. The other line is where I cut, giving 1-1/2" clearance to the inlet scoop.
