Time to start trimming the top engine cowl. First I marked a line on the fuselage skin, 2" back from the firewall edge, laid the cowl in place, propped the front so it was about 1/4" below the spinner (to allow for engine sag), and marked an initial cut-off line.
Using a cut-off wheel in my dremel I then cut close to the line, sanded, and tested for fit. I repeated this process several times until I had a nice fit with a 1/4" space between spinner back plate and cowl.
The cowl is very easy to sand with 80grit sandpaper and a sanding block.
