After fitting a couple of the fuel lines, I then turned my attention to the oil and fuel pressure sensor connections. I decided that a slightly better fit for these hoses would be made if I moved my sensors up from the bottom/middle ports on the sensor block, to the middle/top ports. No problem, but to do this I needed to take the block off the firewall as I cannot undo the AN fittings.
Oh crap....I didn't install nutplates. It's held on with nuts/bolts, and there's no easy way I'm going to be able to prise myself in under the cockpit panel to get to the nuts. Hmmmm.
Solution....I managed to get the bolts undone, letting the nuts/washers fall to the floor on the inside. I then made up a thick spacer plate that I rivetted to the firewall using cherrymax rivets. This spacer was of sufficient thickness to then allow me to drill and tap new mounting holes for the sensor block.
Pictures below show the spacer being installed, and the final installation with sensors both shifted up one hole.
Trap for beginners ..... make sure everything that's bolted to the firewall is done so with nutplates.
