Brief Description: 2: Fuel Tank Attach Brackets - Part 2
With the internal support bracket finished, I could then turn my attention to the actual fuel tank attach bracket itself (one on each side)
I'd already made up the brackets quite some time ago, so all I had to do now was clamp it up to the fuel tank bracket and match drill holes through to the fuselage support bracket ...... gee, so may brackets!
With the mounting holes drilled I then temporarily bolted the new bracket in place so that I could measure and drill the 1/4" hole that connects the two brackets together. I went very carefully with this, ensuring proper edge distances were maintained. The first picture below shows my layout lines.
With all holes drilled I then removed the fuselage bracket and slotted the hole as per plans. Then I smoothed, alodined and painted before bolting into place with appropriate nyloc nuts (thanks again to Nadine Zanol for providing the necessary second set of hands).
The plans make mention of fitting a nutplate to the wing tank bracket AFTER the wings have been removed, but I found it simple enough to fit them now ...... so I did.
The same for the other wing.
