Brief Description:  Setting up the Wings

A short day in the workshop today, but still managed to get the two wings set up ready for drilling the rear spar bolt holes tomorrow.

First I attached plumb bobs to the wing leading edges, one at the far end, and one at the wing root, of each wing. I then moved the wings ever so slightly fore-aft until all four plumb bobs were in a line. This verified that the wings were aligned with each other.

Noxt I took a measurement from each wing tip, back to a centreline location on the rear fuselage. If both measurements are the same then this verifies that the wings are sqare to the fuselage. I had 1mm difference, so all good.

Finally I set up a spirit level as shown in the third picture below, following the instruction notes regarding how high the block of wood at the trailing edge needed to be. If the wings are at the correct angle of incidence, then the spirit level will show 0.00 degrees. I was within 0.2 degrees on both wings, with the measurements the same on each side. No further adjustments required.

I could have drilled the rear spar bolt holes there and then, but given how important this hole is I decided to walk away and check again in the morning.
