Today I continued on with the rear canopy skirt pieces. I still had one piece to cut out on the bandsaw, so started with that. Once cut, I then got all the edges nice and smooth on the scotchbrite wheel.
In hindsight, I realised when I started to fit the piece to the canopy that I need not have gone to so much trouble to cut and smooth to the template lines. The skirt is way oversize and will need to be trimmed quite a bit after match drilling to the canopy. This had me in a quandry for a while thinking I'd done something wrong.
Anyway, I started by cutting the centre top end to fit around the canopy slide rail, and then, following the instructions, started match drilling from the top. Each time I drilled a new hole I pulled the skirt forward at the same time to ensure it pulled in against the fuselage at the rear edge.
