Brief Description:  3: Canopy Rear Skirts

With the canopy side skirts done, now it's time to start on the rear skirt pieces.

These come as one large sheet of aluminium with a texta mark showing where to cut. Not sure why Vans would make us builders do this on these pieces as it's very difficult to cut such a large piece. I trimmed away as much as I could with tin snips so that I could just squeeze the piece through my bandsaw. I then set about trimming to the texta line on my scotchbrite wheel. Again, no easy feat when the piece is so large, and with curved surfaces.

Anyway, I got there on the first one. The second piece will have to wait until I'm back ....... in three weeks time.

I also received some advice from a fellow builder about cutting these pieces a little wider than the texta marks, to help with a good seal against the fuselage, but Vans have provided a piece of aluminium that is only just large enough, therefore no option to make them any wider. Just have to see how I go I guess.
