Brief Description: 1: Canopy Side Skirts
|
|
Gee, it sure is slow going now that my build is down in Mount Gambier. Two weeks since I last did anything, and I get just one day in the workshop before heading back up to Roxby. Oh well.
So, I spent the first hour just reminding myself of exactly where I was at, re-reading the instructions and plans, and getting it all clear again in my head. Then I started work on the right side canopy skirts.
I made an adjustment to the plans regarding rivet hole spacing on the lower edge of the C-791 Canopy Skirt Brace. If you follow the plans, which I did for the left side, then the rivet holes for joining C-791 to C-660 Canopy Skirt are spaced 1-9/32". However the large Lightening/Relief holes are spaced 2-1/2". This results in the rivet holes not properly aligning with the lightening hole slots. The rivet spacing needs to be exactly half the lightening hole spacing, so I drilled the C-660 to C-791 rivet holes at 1-1/4" spacing. It looks much better. I guess another solution would be to space the lightening holes a little further apart, at 2-9/16".
I also put my pneumatic squeezer to work today. Gee, these things make life much easier.
