I spent some time today getting started on the canopy side skirts. I spent a lot of time carefully laying out the many holes onto the left skirt, taking note of some advice from fellow builders Pat and Michelle regarding the holes that attach the side skirt to the rear skirt. One hole as shown on the plans should not be drilled, and leave final drilling of several holes until I see how the rear skirt fits.
After drilling and deburring the holes, I then started match drilling to the canopy frame, however I stopped about a third the way along as I need to trim some more off the guide rails. They protrude out past the fuselage sides and create a small gap between the fuselage and the skirt. This will not do, so I need to spend some more time reshaping the track.
I'm travelling to Adelaide this afternoon, so must leave it there for now. Will be gone for over a week.
