I'm not at all happy with the Vans team right now!
After installing throttle and mixture control cables exactly as per the plans provided to me, I found out today that the firewall penetration locations have been revised to suit the new nose gear design. It just seems that nobody at Vans thought it necessary to send me the updated drawings that show this. I got them today, but only because I sent them a message during the week to say I thought something wasn't right.
Oh well, I'll just drill new holes in the firewall, plug up the old ones somehow, relocate the throttle and mixture control cables, and see how we go.
Oh yeah, the Vans guy also advised that I might need to buy different length cables to suit the new design..... F*@K!! ..... they're A$200 each! Awesome. I'll be buggered if I'm going to get them from Vans. If I need new cables I'll just go to Aircraft Spruce instead.... maybe even get them at AirVenture in July.
Anyway, for now I think I'll just have a beer and calm down before I do any real work.
Where the plans led me to believe engine control cables needed to be installed ... how wrong this was!
