I received a message back overnight from Chad at Vertical Power, advising that I'm not the first person to break off the power stud on their VP-X. In fact he admitted to having done it himself about five times.
Chad also advised that replacing the broken stud is not a difficult repair, and that he would do it for free if I send the unit back to the States. He also said I could do it myself if I wanted, however this would void the 2-year warranty.
Since the unit is a year old already, and I've had it powered up and all works fine, then I decided I'll carry out the repair myself. So I pulled the box apart.
These VP-X units are really well made, and a breeze to disassemble. I got it apart quite quickly and was able to identify the part I need. I'll send another message to Vertical Power and ask them to send out a new stud bolt.
The warranty is void now!
With the side panel removed it's then an easy job to take out the power lug
