Brief Description: 1: Sliding Canopy Frame
|
|
More work on the sliding canopy frame today, starting with adjusting the height. I took some measurements and found I needed to cut 1/4" of the right side of the front bow, and 1/2" off the left side. This seemed strange, so I measured about four times to make sure .... yep, the left side was definitely sitting 1/4" higher than the right.
I worked out that if I cut this amount off each side then the horizontal side bows would end up parallel with the canopy roller track, which is what we want.
After more deliberation, I finally got up the courage to cut the canopy frame front bow. The little dremel came to the fore yet again and made light work of this. After a bit of filing to smooth the rought edges I then placed the frame back onto the fuselage ..... perfect. The side bows are now parallel with the canopy roller track, and the front bow is sitting 3/8" higher than the roll bar, exactly as per the drawings.

Removed 1/4" from the right side, and 1/2" from the left

Cutting the steel tubular frame was short work for the dremel

Okay, so the canopy frame height is now spot on, 3/8" above the roll bar
