Brief Description:  Main Wheels

Tonight I spent a little time after work assembling the main tyres, which was nowhere near as difficult as I was expecting.

I built the main wheels first, starting by fitting the tube inside the tyre, and ensuring the valve stem is located adjacent the red dot on the tyre (I assume for balancing?). A liberal helping of talcum powder on the inside of the tyre helped position the tube correctly.

With the tube in place I then partially inflated, just to get the wrinkles out. This also helped pull the centre of the tube back from the inside rim of the tyre (which in turn helps with getting the wheel halves joined together).

Then I split the wheel rim in half and inserted the side with the valve stem hole, before flipping the whole lot over and inserting the other rim half, bolting back together, and inflating fully. It all went quite easily actually.

I did both main wheels, and the nose wheel, which was slightly more difficult, but still manageable without any colourful words. I also then bolted up the left wheel onto the main gear leg and torqued all bolts.
