Brief Description:  1: More Skyview Work

A few things done today. First up I tested both the left and right fuel tank sender units, and did a rough calibration, just to verify that they both work okay ...... all good. I edited the Dynon sensor file to get a bit faster response, but other than that, all good.

I also fitted a duel USB port extension to the panel today as well. I'll be maintaining both OzRunways and PocketFMS software updates on the Skyviews, and this needs to be done via file transfers from the USB port. Last thing I want to be doing is fumbling for a memory stick up under the instrument panel, so I bought a dual-port extension, as shown in the second photo below.

I first made a practice cut-out on a scrap piece of aluminium, just to see how it was going to turn out. It ended up a bit oversize, so good thing. I then used this as a marking template to cut the real hole on my panel. Again, my dremel came to the rescue for this.

I cut the hole just above the secondary EFIS and then installed the dual USB extension. I also bought a couple low-profile 32Gb memory sticks and loaded my customised sensor configuration files (I've been doing quite a bit of playing with the Dynon software), OzRunways maps, and PocketFMS database.

It all works well.
