Brief Description:  Troubleshooting the CO Monitor

A big day of troubleshooting today, and it all came down to a wiring error.

I had all sorts of trouble trying to get the Guardian 353D-201 CO Monitor to display properly on my Skyview screen. I'm sure many people just set their expensive CO Monitors up to display either good (green light) or bad (red light), but me being me, well I just have to have it display actual CO level in parts-per-million (ppm), which it is capable of doing.

Long story short, I had a reading of 165ppm when sitting in fresh air. If this were a true value then I should be dead by now. I also had very weird readings whenever I pressed the TEST button. It just didn't make sense.

I spent 3 hours Friday evening, plus another 5 hours today, trying to find the cause and had all but given up when, after checking my wiring for the third time, I found I'd made a mistake in the 9-pin connector at the back of the CO Monitor ........... aaaaarrrrggh!!

Once I corrected the wiring error, all was good. My Skyview now correctly displays zero ppm CO in fresh air.

That was my day, how was yours?

Thank god for the Skyview

Thank god for the Skyview "Sensor Debug Data" screen. I spent all day looking at this!
