Brief Description:  2: Tail Light Wiring

After lunch today I turned my attention to the aft end of the build, and finished off the wiring for the tail nav/strobe light. I spent quite a bit of time trying to work out how to fix the cable as it exits the fuselage and enters the rudder assembly, and eventually decided to drill a hole in the rudder stop block (see fist picture below).

By routing the cable through the nylon block then it can never get pinched by the rudder. Pretty happy with that idea.

What I wasn't happy about, however, was the fact that the cable was in contact with the rudder skin edge, which would act like a sharp knife. I'm sure the cable would be damaged in no time. The second picture below shows a hatched area of skin that I cut away to prevent this from ever happening. Even though there's now plenty of clearance to the cable, I'll also put some rubber strip on the edge all the same.

To complete this part I then fitted the cable off with a molex connector, plugged in the nav/strobe light, and tested. All good.
